Aisha - Aisha is a romantic comedy film directed by Rajshree Ojha and starring Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol in the lead roles. Aisha is a chick flick and one of those rare movies whose title is that of the eponymous heroine and not the hero. The story is foolproof film material, adapt- able to any culture and any age. It is a modern day adaption of the 19th Century British novel, Emma by Jane Austen, set in the upper class society of Delhi. The music is composed by Amit Trivedi. The lyrics are written by Javed Akhtar.
Aisha (Sonam Kapoor) is a girl with a simple problem – she has to take others problems into her own hands. She is constantly criticized by childhood buddy Arjun (Abhay Deol) for her unsolicited liaisons. Unperturbed she carries on stumbling to prove herself. She tries to make a match between her rustic friend Shefali (Amrita Puri) with city bred Randhir (Cyrus Sahukar). The romance fails. Then as stupid cupid she tries to pair Shefali with Dhruv (Arunoday Singh). That too fails. Until one day she realizes that love does not come by force. Sonam Kapoor looks chic but does not act chic. Abhay isn’t cool either.
According to Box office India, Aisha opened to a poor response. But over the weekend women have been checking out the style quotient of the new fashion queen Sonam Kapoor. Maybe it is time for her to have a runaway hit rather than one at the box office!
