From a couple of years, it has been observed that most of the successful movies are based on local stories. It is said that “the more local a story, the more global it is.” Yes, this is a fact and movies like Ishqiya and Peepli-Live’s successful stories are the evidence of this.

When talking about Antardwand, it is a film based on true story which put light on a rampant practice in Bihar where a prospective bridegroom is forcibly married and kept under house arrest.

The film is made under the directions given by Sushil Rajpal. Starring Raj Singh Chaudhary, Swati Sen, Vinay Pathak and Akhilendra Mishra. The film won the National Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues at the 55th National Awards, (2009) and was released last month.

In the movie, Raj Singh Chaudhary is playing the character of Raghuveer who studies and lives in Delhi together with her girlfriend – Sia (Himanshi). Raghuveer has to go to his home town which is in Bihar to talk about his marriage with his father. But, unfortunately, his father rejects the proposal. There he is forced to marry Janki (Swati) who is daughter of Mahendra Babu (Akhilendra Mishra). By doing this, Raghuveer’s father gets higher dowry from Mahendra Babu.

The drama move towards live with skilled presentation from all the characters. Raj Singh Chaudhary as the helpless and an offended groom is credible. Swati Sen is extremely excellent in her touching act. Akhilendra Mishra has a commanding and striking occurrence. His personality gives him sufficient range to get staged. Vinay Pathak is well-organized in his small role. Jaya Bhattacharya and Sumukhi Pendse provide a good hold.

Overall, ANTARDWAND is a must watch movie for its heart rending story and strong performances
