Paathshala

‘Paathshala’ is co-produced by Ahmed Khan. The story is about a new English Teacher Rahul Prakash Udyavar (Shahid Kapoor) who joins Swaraswati Vidya Mandir school, located on the borders of Mumbai suburbs. Although he hits an immediate bonding with students as well as teachers, he understands that there is something wrong in the school. He tries to pitch in and help. It is when his doubts prove true, he finds out that the school manager – Sharma (Saurabh Shukla) makes many monetary obligations compulsory on the parents in the name of extracurricular activities, that he unites the teachers (Ayesha Takia, Sushant Singh, Kurush Deboo) against the atrocities of school organization, it comes as a surprise to the teachers when the Principal Aditya Sahay (Nana Patekar) defends the administrations verdict.

The situation becomes more serious when the school management becomes aggressive with its development and engages media planners in extracurricular activities. This demands the participation of students in TV reality shows and media PR activities. The stress on little minds boosts extremely giving rise to a surprising and severe situation. The matter then becomes so unstable that it lastly turns out to be a national subject. The movie is said to respond to a lot of queries linked to the purity of today’s teaching system.
