We Are Family

We Are Family, is an upcoming Hindi film directed by Siddharth Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar. Featuring Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, the project is a remake of the 1998 film Stepmom, and is expected to be released on September 3, 2010.

Maya (Kajol) is the perfect mother. Her life revolves around her three children, Aleya (Aanchal Munjal), Ankush (Nominath Ginsburg), and Anjali (Diya Sonecha), who think nothing less than the world of her. Despite being divorced from her husband, Aman (Arjun Rampal) Maya has ensured that everything runs smoothly in her house, and they continue to remain a happy family unit. However, when Aman introduces his girlfriend, Shreya (Kareena Kapoor) a career oriented woman, who has a lot to learn about children, to the family, the situation immediately takes an unexpected turn. When an incident changes their lives drastically, bringing the two women under the same roof, they find themselves putting to test an unusual situation; can two mothers make a home? Forced to make some unorthodox choices for her family, Maya must confront her uneasy equation with Shreya and find a way to bring everyone together, despite their differences, to make them a family once again. Can they make a happy home and proudly say… WE ARE FAMILY!

The movie has six original songs composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, including a tribute to Elvis Presley’s Jailhouse Rock. The trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has come a long way since their Rockford and Dil Chahta Hai days. Their simple yet euphonious melodies just warm the cockles of the heart. Yet again, they are treading the safe path while composing songs for We Are Family.
